Women
Beginning in 1903 whenever they have been called through those hundred plus years, their calling has been similar: to know God and
to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive
fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission participation in the global ministries of the church. They have worked both behind the
scenes and leading the charge in that spiritual journey. Today, UMW’s roll numbers more than 80 strong, and the group encompasses
three Circles – Esther (meets 3rd Tuesdays of every month at 10:00 a.m.), Naomi (meets the 3rd Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m.)
and Rebekah (meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 1:00 p.m.). Participation is voluntary, and the participant is regarded as a
person of unique value.
Funds for projects come from the Annual Soup and Salad Luncheon and through personal pledges. The list of projects
and causes near and dear to the UMW’s heart is endless, including: Cody Cupboard, Crisis Intervention Center, Spirit Mountain Hospice,
Circle J Camp, Children’s Resource Center, Ministries for Native American Children, Second Mile Giving, Intermountain Children’s Home,
Leo Pocha Clinic, McCurdy School (NM), Blackfeet Chemical Dependency Program, Jackson (OH) Area Ministries Resource & Training
Center.
In addition, individual members provide help for citizens, the group makes visits to shut ins, donates breakfast foods and
collects winter clothes for elementary school children, purchases kitchen supplies for the church, assists with weddings and funerals
and helps defray members expenses during meetings and conferences.
