Pastor's Bio
Rev. Dr. Paul “Pete” Meese
Ordained Elder in The United Methodist Church, Rocky Mountain Conference
Pastor, Cody United Methodist Church
of Cody, Wyoming
Pastor Pete came to Cody from Eagle, Colorado. Biblical tradition passes on stories of persons consecrating their lives to God in
childhood, but God’s call can come much later. Like many of his contemporaries, Pete is a second career pastor and was in his 40’s
when he was ordained. The wisdom he had accrued and the maturity he had developed in the music and business world strengthen the message
he brings.
“The best part of my job is the sacramental part,” says Pastor Pete. “I think the most important thing we do is worship
God. I am ordained to Word and Sacrament, and I love doing both. Preaching, baptizing, and serving communion are constant sources
of renewal for me. And the children, I love to teach the children.”
He was born in Fort Wayne Indiana, but the entire family migrated
to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1957. Pastor Pete was introduced into the ministry of all Christians through Dedication in The Evangelical
United Brethren, subsequently confirmed in the American Lutheran Church, but was baptized and received into membership of the United
Methodist Church by Profession of Faith in 1992. He served Cameron Methodist Church in Denver as Minister of Music from 1992-95. After
completion of seminary in 1995, he enrolled in Clinical Pastoral Education at Porter Hospital in Denver, and went on to complete a
Chaplain Residency at St. Anthony’s Hospital 1996-97. He was appointed to St. James UMC in Central City, CO in July of 1997 through
July 1st of 2002. He served a dual charge of the Eagle Valley UMC in Eagle and Gypsum, Colorado from August 1st of 2002 through June
30th of 2007. Pete was appointed to Cody UMC as of July 1, 2007 to present.
